About Your Counselor: Debora R. Holt
Debora R. Holt is a Nationally Certified Counselor (#40044), as well as licensed by the State of Washington (#4897) to provide counseling to children, adolescents and adults. She received her Mental Health Child Specialist Certification from the University of Washington in 1992, and a Masters in Education with endorsements in Guidance and Counseling from City University in September of 1993. Ms. Holt is required by the State of Washington and the National Board of Certified Counselors to have continuing education in several facets of mental health on a yearly basis.
Ms. Holt is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AM HCA), and Washington State Mental Health Counselors Association. She has provided mental health services to children, adolescents, adults and families since 1991.
Ms. Holt's formal training and experience covers a broad range of therapeutic approaches and specializations. Her basic orientation is to emphasize the individual's capacities to live and cope effectively, with the understanding that resolution of current problems or sources of distress may require assistance and support in evolving a new understanding and personal awareness. She also emphasizes the importance of the individual's inherent value as a person. All therapeutic approaches will be sensitive to, and supportive of the client's particular beliefs, values and goals. Ms. Holt utilizes a varied clinical approach with a foundation in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Life Coaching.
